About us
150 years ago, farm owners had few options for financial protection from accidents or calamities. To protect their investments, forward thinking farmers from West Point, Waddams, Erin and Kent townships banded together to establish West Point Fire Insurance Company in Lena, Illinois, on March 22, 1872.
Since our beginning, we have continually adapted and grown to meet the changes and challenges faced by our policyholders. One thing we haven’t changed in 150 years – our core values. They are as important to us today as they were when we began:

Our “neighbor helping neighbor” approach started in 1872, and we continue to offer security and protection for farms and homes in seven northwest Illinois counties. We are proud to offer complete, customized insurance coverage with fair claim service through our quality coverage to policyholders.

What is a mutual insurance company?
The origins of mutual insurance companies in Illinois began when main line insurance companies would not write coverage for farm insurance because farms were deemed too risky of an investment. This left area farmers with no financial protection from calamities, and they formed their own companies to provide insurance coverage for its members.
As a mutual insurance company, West Point Mutual is owned by its policyholders and controlled by a board of directors elected by those same policyholders. Complete home and farm insurance coverage is offered to residents in northern Illinois
